This has been making waves in the past week...MULHOLLAND DRIVE
http://www.deceptions.net/captures/md_nude.html
And I chatted w/David Wed. night (4/10) about it. Here's the word, straight from the man himself!
El Gato [7:52 PM PST]: David - all this hoopla over blurring Laura on MD...
DAVID LYNCH [7:52 PM PST]: ELGATO - MAY I EXPLAIN ?
El Gato [7:53 PM PST]: Sure David!!
DAVID LYNCH [7:59 PM PST]: OKAY - THANK YOU ELGATO - FIRST - IF THE SHOT IS TIMED CORRECTLY YOU SHOULD NOT BE ABLE TO TELL ONE BIT IF LAURA'S PUBIC HAIR HAS BEEN BLURRED - THIS PROBABLY MEANS SOME VIEWERS ARE EXPERIMENTING TO SEE LAURA'S PUBIC HAIR AND MORE ..... THIS IS WHY THE PICTURE WAS BLURRED - I PROMISED LAURA THAT I WOULD TRY TO PROTECT HER AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE AND TOLD
HER SHE WOULD REMAIN A BEAUTIFUL SILLOUETTE AGAINST THE WARM LIGHT COMING IN THROUGH THE CURTAINS...
DAVID LYNCH [8:02 PM PST]: ...SOME PEOPLE SEE IT AS A STRANGE CENSORSHIP - IT ISN'T AND LIKE I SAID - IF YOU CAN SEE THE BLURRING THEN YOUR SET IS NOT ADJUSTED PROPERLY AND THE WHOLE FILM IS WRONG - NO PROPER MOOD
Also, I would normally not link to another review, but here's a great
comparison between 5th Element (Superbit vs. non-Superbit version). I have
the Superbit and I totally agree with the observations...

Lastly - put a film called "The Princess & The Warrior" in Netflix queue to rent immediately - it's FANTASTIC. It's Tom Tykwer's follow-up to his great "Run Lola Run." I'm not gonna say another word. Except. It's. Incredible. |
